Team Code of Conduct

In addition to the NWAL Parent/Coach Code of Conduct, the Memorial Northwest Swim Team has implemented a Team Code of Conduct for parents, coaches, swimmers, and spectators to abide by at every practice, meet, and team event. Violation of the NWAL Parent/Coach Code of Conduct and/or the

Team Code of Conduct could result in suspension and/or expulsion of both the swimmer and family from the Memorial Northwest Marlins Swim Team according to the Membership Disciplinary Policy described below. To become and maintain membership in good standing on the Memorial Northwest Marlins Swim Team, each Parent and Swimmer must read, understand, and abide by the Team Code of Conduct.

1. Parents/Coaches must read and sign the NWAL Parent/Coach Code of Conduct.
2. Coaches, Swimmers, and Parents must exhibit good sportsmanship and acceptable behavior at all times.
3. Cursing is a violation of the Code of Conduct.
4. Physical altercations, bullying, fighting, assault, battery, and any other physical confrontations not associated with the normal pursuit of an athletic contest or training, are all violations of the Code of Conduct.
5. Any verbally abusive language, insults, intimidations, threatening language, and other derogatory communication directed at other swimmers, parents, volunteers, Board Members, meet officials, and/or coaches will be considered a violation of the Code of Conduct.
6. Vandalism, intentional and/or malicious damage or destruction to real or personal property of the Swim Team or its members, Memorial Northwest Community Association, or other affiliated organization, team, or community will be considered a violation of the Code of Conduct.
7. Swimmers agree to abide by additional guidelines for the team to be established as needed. This includes no inappropriate displays of affection or physical contact between swimmers.
8. It is the coaching staff's position that drugs, alcohol, and tobacco products have no place in athletics. Hence, Memorial Northwest Marlins is a drug and alcohol free organization at both home and away functions.
9. For the safety of the swimmers, parents will remain off of the pool deck during all meets and practices. Should a situation need to be addressed, a meeting will need to be set up with the coach(es) at a time that is mutually convenient.
10. Parents or other family members who actively attempt to undermine the Coaches’ or Board Members’ authority is guilty of violating the Code of Conduct.
11. Parents who do not abide by the guidelines and rules set forth by the Board and administered by the Coaches are considered to be in violation of the Code of Conduct.

Membership Disciplinary Policy

As a member of the Memorial Northwest Marlins Summer Swim Team I agree that if I fail to abide by the aforementioned rules and guidelines, I will be subject to disciplinary action that could include, but is not limited to the following:

1. Verbal warning by official, head coach and/or head of organization.
2. Written warning.
3. Parental / Swimmer meet suspension with written documentation of incident kept on file by organizations involved.
4. Parental / Swimmer suspension from participation in practice, meets and/or all ensuing seasons.
5. Parental / Swimmer season suspension and forfeiture of volunteer deposit and all registration fees.

By signing below, I agree that the Parent/Guardian, all swimmers and I have read (or have had explained to me) and that I understand the Team Code of Conduct and the Membership Disciplinary Policy. This form will remain on file for current swim season and will need to be filled out again each season due to a change in the policy contained herein.
